60 years of La Maiena
It all began back in 1964, when Franz Waldner opened the Restaurant Nörder, complete with a wine lounge and nightclub. The Nörder soon became the meet-up point for the entire village, and the venue of choice for an after-work drink.
In 1977, Marlene and Hans Walder took over the family company, carried out expansion works, and continued to run it as a successful hotel. The hotel was extended regularly over the years to come, and the nightclub and wine lounge became a much-loved venue of cult status for both guests and locals from all over South Tyrol. To the joy of their parents, their children, Elisabeth and Mathias went on to join the hotel management team.
In 2008, inspired by the former name of Meran – “Maiense” - the hotel was renamed La Maiena Meran Resort.
In 2024, La Maiena reopened after major renovation works, and is now more beautiful and spacious than ever before.
